Closer to 30 than to 20

At this age, you start to see the consequences of the decisions you made when you were younger. For the first time, you realize that your choices can have consequences years after you make them.

These years are deeply frustrating for those who never took ownership of their lives, and incredibly exciting for those who did.

You start developing the judgment to form your own opinions, and your decisions are now backed by experience. Although the courage of the ignorant will always be envied by the experienced.

You understand that there are as many realities as there are people, and that, more often than not, the best answer lies not at either extreme, but somewhere in between.

There is no point in being the best at something or having the best product if you do not know how to communicate it. I was wrong to think that communication was unnecessary if what you had to offer was good enough.

Perfection does not exist, but you should always strive for it. If you aim for a 10, you might land at a 9. But if you settle and aim for an 8, you might end up at a 5.

Not exercising regularly or eating poorly starts to catch up with you. It is no longer just about appearance. Your body starts to complain. Staying up late becomes increasingly difficult to justify.

You start distinguishing your friends from the people you simply get along with. You become more selective about who you share your time with.

You go from your mother calling you to being the one who calls her.

Your 20s are the best time to experiment. The bets you make are incredibly asymmetric. You have almost nothing to lose.

Some people are in a hurry to settle down, but settling down is not the cause of a life well lived. It is the consequence of one.
